DiaPhan ketone urine testing strips

Easy to use, immediate result (up to 60s), available for home use starting from March, 2019

Thinking on healthy eating habits? Try our food reaction self test.

A ketogenic diet is a type of very low carbohydrate diet designed to force your body to burn fat instead of glucose for energy. This process produces ketones.

Following a very low-carb diet, with less than 50 grams carbs per day, does not necessarily mean your body switches to ketosis. For instance, exercising or eating too much protein can kick you out of ketosis. How can you tell if your low-carb dieting efforts have been effective enough to induce a state of ketosis? There are different methods to find out if your body has switched to ketosis. Being in ketosis generates elevated levels of ketones, which are detectable in the breath, urine, and blood.

Ketone urine testing strips are the quickest, easiest way to test for ketones in urine.  DiaPhan ketone urine testing strips are suitable for semiquantative analysis of glucose and ketones in order to stick to a healthy diet.

Additional Information

To whom? People who are following low carbohydrate diet. Only for professional use. For home use starting from March, 2019
Method

For glucose: enzymatic reaction - glucoseoxidase, peroxidase, chromogene

For ketones: sodium nitropruside in alkaline buffer

The colour of the glucose reaction zone shows the concentration of the glucose in the patients urine sample.

If yellow, the urine sample doesn’t include any glucose = healthy individual.

In case of presence of glucose, the reaction zone changes the colour to different shade of green colour – the colour scale is shown on each box.

The concentration of the glucose is as well indicated on the tube – either in mmol/l or mg/dl.

The presence of the ketones will be interpreted in the same manner, however the colour changes to violet in case of presence of the analyte.

How to use?

Use only a freshly voided, well mixed, non centrifuged specimen without preservatives collected in a clear container without traces of detergents and disinfectants. The urine should not be more 4 hours old when tested.

1. Remove only as many test strip required and reseal the tube immediately after use;

2. Do not touch test pads of strip;

3. Immerse completely both the reagent pads in the urine sample (for 1 – 2 seconds);

4. Remove excess urine and wipe off the excess urine from the strip to the cellulose cotton wool as well;

5. Hold strip in horizontal position and wait for 60 secs, then read the results.
