why should you do the test?
The Strep A Stick NO step Assay is a qualitative, lateral flow immunoassay for the detection of Streptococcus group A carbohydrate antigen directly from throat swab with no reagents manipulation.
The method employs polyclonal antibody-dye conjugate and polyclonal solid phase antibodies to selectively identify Streptococcus A with a high degree of sensitivity. As the test sample flows through the absorbent device, the labelled antibody-dye conjugate binds to the Strep A carbohydrate antigen forming and antibody-antigen complex.
When this complex binds to the anti Strep A antibody, at the test region, it produces a purple colour band on the membrane. In the absence of Strep A there is no line in the test region. The reaction mixture continues to flow through the absorbent device. Unbound conjugate binds to the reagents in the control region producing a purple colour band, indicating that proper volume of specimen has been added and that the membrane and the reagents are functioning correctly. The results are readily detected visually within 5 minutes from ample introduction.
