how does the thyroid self test work?
Thyroid self test is an immunodiagnostic rapid home test by taking blood from the fingertip to detect elevated TSH value. Simply apply a blood drop and wait for results.
The thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH, thyrotropin) secreted by the pituitary gland. An increase in TSH indicates hypothyroidism, and Thyroid test is based on this detection. Therefore, TSH value of more than 5 μIU TSH / ml, appears in positive test results shows that you are likely to have an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism or hypothyroidism).
Thyroid self test can be used at any time of the day. Thyroid home test cannot be used during substitution therapies using thyroid hormones.
What you need to do when your underactive thyroid test result is positive?
A positive test result means that the value of TSH in blood is higher than normal (5 μIU / ml), and thus you should consult your doctor. Your doctor will determine additional treatment if necessary.
What do you need to do if the test result is negative?
A negative result means that the TSH content is less than 5 μIU / mL, and this is within the normal range. However, if the symptoms persist we recommend that you consult your doctor.
